Sue Lear, Development Manager at Northallerton and the Dales Mencap Society for more than 25 years was mentioned in the New Years Honours List.

Sue was presented with her Medal by the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Mrs. Ropner at a ceremony in April which was also attended by the High Sheriff Claire Granger.

Sue said she felt extremely privileged to receive the honour on behalf of all people with learning disabilities, their families and carers and especially her late daughter Kate.
