The scheme is based at a restaurant and coffee shop that serves the general public. The aim is to help students gain employment following a 2 year individualised training programme.
People who are interested can apply directly or seek help from the Connexions Service. Assistance with travel is available, as is a supported lodging scheme. This means that it is feasible for people from Hambleton/Richmondshire to use this scheme.

VALUING PEOPLE PARTNERSHIP BOARD
The Partnership Board was set up over five years ago to deliver the Government White Paper, ‘Valuing People in the 21st Century’. There are four other Boards that cover North Yorkshire and the City of York. The White Paper ‘Valuing People’ is very important as it is the first time for thirty years that the Government has thought about changes for people with learning disabilities, their families, friends and carers.
The Hambleton and Richmondshire Partnership Board is a multi-agency group that meets four times a year, with an Executive that meets every six weeks. The Partnership Board has over 16 task groups that meet regularly and cover a wide range of topics including Person Centred Planning, Health and Quality Issues and Employment. The Partnership Board is currently considering ways to modernise day services.
Further information about the Valuing People Partnership Board and the task groups can be obtained from the Mencap Centre.
