Our New Home: The Goosecroft Centre

Our original centre in Goosecroft Lane was opened some 50 years ago by Lord Brian Rix. Half a century later we have successfully raised the funds needed to redevelop our centre to offer improved facilities for our members and the community.

The new enlarged facility which has been renamed The Goosecroft Centre, is the home of the Northallerton and the Dales Mencap Society, an independent local Mencap affiliated to Royal Mencap. The refurbished facility includes an enlarged kitchen used for training and for catering, an additional interview/office space and a small multi-purpose room. There is WiFi access and a large smart TV in the main meeting area.  There is a new office for Mencap and additional storage. The design also includes a spacious up-to-date changing places toilet which includes a hoist and adjustable height changing bench and wash basin.

Active fund raising continues to help meet operating costs and to support the provision of resources and activities. With the valued help of volunteers, contributions from members of the public and support from local organisations, we are continuing to improve the opportunities for our users.

Help us continue our work by supporting our events, making a donation or even arranging a fund-raising event yourself.
